New Ljura rescue station, Norrköping

The new Ljura Fire and Rescue Station in Norrköping marks an important step forward for the city’s emergency services and is a long-awaited reinforcement of the local safety infrastructure. Construction began in the summer of 2024 at Dagsbergsfältet, but the project was officially launched in October 2023 with a groundbreaking ceremony.

The new facility will include a state-of-the-art rescue station featuring spacious garage areas, a wash hall, gym, as well as meeting and office spaces — creating a modern work environment ready to meet future demands.

This new project is particularly significant as the current station on Södra Promenaden, built in 1940, can no longer meet today’s extensive needs. Ljura station has been designed with a strong focus on sustainability and environmental considerations, reflected in the choice of building materials and the roof design — which includes solar panels and a green sedum roof. Peikko has supplied both DELTABEAM®, DELTABEAM® Frame, and Petra® slab hanger, facilitating an innovative and efficient construction process carried out by Peab on behalf of the Municipality of Norrköping.
